10 years after the attack on the twin towers, US has been fortunate enough to be safe from any further attacks by the al Qaeda or any other anti social element till date.
Things were all going as per the routine as the authorities encouraged the Americans to go about the businesses normally, till the federal authorities alerted a warning late Thursday of a “specific, credible” threat.
Since the removal of al Qaeda’s Late chief Osama bin Laden & followed by several key figures in February 2010, the group is believed to have been interested in conducting similar a large-scale attack on the US soils. Their attacks will be targeted on bridges and tunnels causing public panic and disarray among first responders.
It is believed that the terror attacks could be staged by car bombs. It is also believed that the individuals who have plans of executing these attacks could be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. The security agencies are on the lookout for two or three English and Arabic speaking individuals and have been identified through flight logs and other records.
Confirming the tip receiver on the terror plot, on Friday, the Vice President Joe Biden stated that, “The thing we are all most worried about is what they call a ‘lone ranger,’ a lone actor, not some extremely complicated plan like it took to take down the World Trade towers,”
The US president has been briefed on the subject issue on Thursday morning & is being updated regularly. Marking the 10th year of terror attacks on the twin towers, the president has instructed the counterterrorism & Law enforcement agencies to put in their best efforts in response to this credible but unconfirmed information.
Commenting on the inauguration of the Ground Zero site this weekend, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Andrew Cuomo requested the New Yorkers not to panic & go about their business as scheduled. At the same time they also requested the New Yorkers to be cautious and aware as they prepare to commemorate the 9/11 anniversary & their war on terrorism.
